I’ve started bodybuilding and I use whey protein and was thinking of starting creatine, too. But can whey protein and creatine be used together or do they not go well together? I’ve heard people can sometimes get an upset tummy using both?
Answer:
What you have to remember is, the more stuff you put into your stomach, the more chance you have of getting a stomach ache. The same goes for foods or supplements. Now, whey has a reputation for giving some people a bad stomach because it contains lactose, and most people are lactose intolerant. Cheap whey protein in particular what is low in concentration and high in lactose is the worst. Higher end concentrate or isolate and hydrolyzed tend not to have this problem at all.
Creatine can sometimes make people feel bloated or give them gas. Everyone responds different, and people who get a bad stomach from one type may be fine on another. Dosage is also a factor.
There’s no way to predict whether you personally will be able to use whey protein and creatine together without issues. In all likelihood you will be able to – but finding a brand and a dosage which works fine for you without problem is the key. Like I say, you can only try these things and see how you respond.
As for how whey protein and creatine will respond for results – just fine, given they work in completely different ways. Go for it.
