Ok, I don’t have much money so I can only take 3 doses of whey protein each day, maximum. I read your article on when to take whey protein and have agreed on your advice about taking it at breakfast and post-workout. But what about the other dose, should I take it before I train?
Answer:
That is entirely up to you. With a breakfast and post-workout dose you have your main bases covered. Those are by far the most important, so when you take your other dose probably won’t make a great deal of difference.
A personal preference of mine is to take a second dose of whey 2-3 hours after my post-workout dose when the muscles are still going to be hungry and pretty receptive to taking in more good quality protein.
I have also double dosed whey protein after a particularly intense workout.
