Question:
I want to use whey protein but can’t decide on which type. I’ve asked on forums and get all different answers?
Answer:
I’m sorry to disappoint you but I can’t recommend any one sort as ‘the one’. Everyone has their own favorite type, for their own reasons – flavor, taste, texture, digestibility, price, results; whatever. People only find out what they like by trying different types and seeing if they are satisfied. I could recommend a specific type and brand right now and you might think it’s revolting, or too pricey. So how could I?
As a rule of thumb, the more expensive types of whey will be of the best quality. People take whey protein to get results first and foremost, so purity may be an issue. The higher the purity of the whey, the more actual whey is in the tub, minus other ingredients.
Higher end whey protein concentrate (70%+ purity) is just great for most peoples uses and budget. If you want to go further and get a higher purity whey you will need to look at whey protein isolate and hydrolyzed. Prices are substantially higher for both.
Given you are a whey newbie, I would suggest you start out with a higher end whey protein concentrate. Check out some whey protein reviews and see what sounds good to you.
